Mesmeranto is a 60 minute piece of music split into 14 songs, rather like 14 chapters of a book or 14 scenes in a film. The plot is life and how we fear it, cherish it, cling to it and ultimately prepare for the end of it. The album was written and recorded in a period of 18 months from November 2017 to April 2019. The songs were written in the UK, Germany and Denmark. During the creation of the album Chrissy’s mother was approaching the end of her life. This sparked lots existential questions and the songs all in some way reflect a realisation of the reality and temporal nature of life and the emotion that was being felt. The album walks the listener through the journey of fear, anger, loss, grief, joy and triumph by translating those feelings into music. Chrissy’s mother Marie passed away on April 12th 2019 and Mesmeranto is dedicated to her.
Mesmeranto charted at No.16 UK Indie Chart, No.18 UK Rock Chart and No.22 UK Progressive Chart. It claimed No.4 in The USA’s Big Takeover Albums Of The Year and was voted twice in the Rock Writers’ Top 20 Albums Of The Year.
